Still a red base in Rome, although it has a very low VIN number so it was manufactured in early 2018. There is a black touring in Athens, according to cargurus.com it has 74 miles on the odometer for some reason, maybe from test drives or a salesperson took it home one weekend, but based on the VIN probably mfg in 10/18 which isn't bad for a 2018. And a black touring in Duluth approx mfg 9/18.

By the way for those in other parts of the country these are all cites in Georgia, not Italy, Greece and Minnesota :)

I saw the one in Duluth. For some reason the others didn't show on my search. Probably user error. If anyone around Atlanta is on the fence, grab these while you can!

Yes my understanding is this month it’s a $6,000 factory rebate and the additional $1,700 was dealer discount. However they had added on about $3,900 in dealer accessories that they said could not be removed from the car. Best case that’s going to add $2,000 to the cost of the car after negotiating for something I didn’t want. Their offer was the result of me using TrueCar. I took their low pricing to a dealer that only had $995 in dealer accessories and they matched the price then we negotiated on the accessory price. I wanted to be out the door at $28,500 but was happy being out the door at a shade under $30k. My biggest fear was the $6,000 manufacturers rebate expiring. I have only driven this car one day and I am in love.

    Congrats @Ryan C !
You did very well in negotiating down considering all your dealers had dealer installed add ons which is a joke IMO.
That's what I found was true - all dealers would add on thousands when in reality the items are worth 10% in their cost. Especially laughable are the "door edge protection" which are thin pieces of plastic on the door edges that you can get for $10 at an auto parts store.
Guess the dealership needs to charge $100s of dollars to install the $10 part ???

Case in point: I had a great deal at first when I dealt with Keyes Honda in Van Nuys, CA - they quoted the lowest but when you got there, they said the $2,000 add on was not part of the deal and that I would have to pay for it. I said they can keep their car and ended up at Norm Reeves Superstore and got it without a penny added on.

@4sallypat thank you. I was not super enthused when i realized the Clarity was the perfect car for me. I was of the opinion it’s the ugliest car in the world. Two days driving and I am head over heels for this car. Anyone who is uncertain just go for it.
@4Sally it’s funny you mention the door edge protection. I was actually fine with that only because I could actually physically see that they had added something. That was part of the $995 package for me that included mud guards, trunk liner and the ring ding guards on the door handles. Maybe worth $150 total. Getting it to $395 was “ok” for me because I could at least see they had done something to the car. It was the $3,000 of add ons for spray coating and gps security where I was getting very annoyed. Definitely worth it to call around and maybe drive out of your way a bit. I also highly recommend shopping for a car before u need it. Last time I purchased a car I limped my other car in on it’s dying breath. Diamond Valley in Hemet negotiated in good faith and I felt like I had decent leverage. They always make you feel like you beat them up and they’re losing money but I still never walk away quite confident that I got the best deal. Fortunately I got the perfect car at a solid price

The current dealer incentive for California runs 7/09/2019 - 9/03/2019 although it is now $5,000.

The $5,000 incentive is available in Oregon also, even though Oregon still has no cars. As in not one Clarity available in the entire state. Maybe if they are lucky they will get some by September.

I know it's not the bargain you've all been getting, but I drove off with a new 2018 touring in Michigan for $30k.

Also, there is a 2018 base (red exterior, black interior) at the Schaumburg Honda in Chicago, going for $26,923. Ask for Andrea, she was probably the best salesperson I've worked with. In the end I just didn't want to do 10 hours of driving.

I don’t know...that seems like a pretty nice deal for a touring. May just be the Californian in me with the $2,800 in taxes I had to pay to buy the dang thing but I was stoked to get out the door under $30k for a base 2019. I’ve had the thing for 4 days and I just don’t see any reason to not be super pleased at $30k regardless of year. Congrats.

That was actually a very good deal, I assume that was the dealer price before TTL. Was there a $220 documentation fee added to that? I think that's the maximum in Michigan. What was your MFG date (can be found on driver door jamb.)

This was before TTL. Total (before down payment and financing, but after tax/tag/title) was 32,159.64, and I got free door mats and half off the GAP coverage (not included in that figure). I didn't even know they could do that lol. The doc fee was $219. Chicago and Toledo said theirs was $180. Manufactured in October 2018.

I bought the tire warranty separately, but I haven't decided whether to keep it or not. Figure I've got a couple days to charge it back if I have to.

2018's were manufactured until sometime in December so 10/18 is towards the end of the model year. Definitely a good price, a few people got a few hundred more off, and some in California have gotten similar discounts on 2019's because of the Honda incentive there.

So looking at just the dealer discount on the car itself it was nearly $7,300 off of MSRP.

    2018 Touring mfg 10/18
    Michigan
    MSRP 37,495
    Dealer price 30,000
    Doc fee 219
Total dealer price before TTL 30,219
    Discount from MSRP 7,276

There were some service bulletins in October mainly software updates I think, that your car may or may not already have. Probably not worth making a special trip to the dealer for but have them check that when you go in for your first service.

I have been debating getting a 2018 clarity base. I have a have 2018 Accord (12.5k miles) . The dealer offered the clarity base at 26k and trade in value of 20.5k.

Do you think that is a great deal? Do you think I should give up my accord for the clarity? I really like my accord. I don't like the look of the clarity but love the 50 mile range on battery. I can't make up my mind.

Without speaking to the price or trade in value, I would remind you not to forget to take the tax credit into account. So, if your situation is such that you can take advantage of it, you will get an additional $7,500 as a credit on your 2019 taxes. Depending on your state, there might be other incentives as well.

If you are able to take advantage of the tax credit, that would mean that the tax credit would cover the entire difference, although you’d have to pay now and get it back come tax-time. If the are state incentives, it could skew the deal even further in your favor.

You have to drive a Clarity (a fully-charged Clarity, of course) to experience the joy of silent running. However, if you have a really long commute and no place at home or work to charge a Clarity, stick with your Accord. The look of the Clarity is better from the inside, but the outside look has grown on me.

Yes I will be able to take the 7500 credit.

My commute is 20 miles round trip and will only be able to charge at home.

Time for a 20-mile test drive. Soon you'll find yourself trying to think up a clever license plate for your Clarity PHEV.

Do you think it's silly to purchase even if you can't charge at home or work? I have an 8 mile round trip commute to work 5 days a week, and live basically two blocks away from a free level 2 charger at my local grocery store. I figure I can charge it once a week there and basically drive electric all week without worries, can't decide if purchasing a Clarity is stupid or not for my situation though.
