I've been posting on the VW Canada Facebook page, they are not helping their dealers per this latest message, so incredibly appalling. Our dealer has not been very helpful, they never received the July 11 notice and the only thing they've produced is proof of failed attempts to communicate with the MTO. The MTO is the villain here, but I would have thought VW would help their customers a bit. Should have known after the emissions scandal and lies. Here's their unhelpful response:
"This was a government program and Dealers needed to submit paperwork to them by certain dates in order for the vehicle to qualify. We are not sure if the dealer did their due diligence however, there were forms that were sent to the dealers to fill out. We recommend that you follow up with your dealership. Thank you"

Which VW dealership was it? It seems that VW has the largest number of customers affected by this order list issue , myself included. Mine is Pfaff VW in Newmarket.

Ours was Roseland VW in Burlington, our e-golf was the only one they sold. No one wants to take responsibility.

I would recommend sending your "appeal email" asap as the deadline is 03/31/19. Cover your a$$ every step of the way.

Absolutely, we've sent our "appeal" (actually several) to the [email protected] email, we've also involved our MPP. Do you know of any other email or way to appeal? We've had no response from the MTO yet. We have called a couple of times and spoke to a couple of EHVIP team members at length, none of the conversations have been particularly encouraging.

I also sent it to that email address, and also to [email protected]. given there is absolutely no direction on how to start an appeal, I asked a team member at the Ministry and he said an email to those two addresses should be sufficient.

I just found this forum today, and I am in the same boat as many in here. Can someone please provide me with information on this "appeals" process? Where did the March 31, 2019 deadline come from? Is there a formal appeals process or do I just send an email to [email protected] saying that we are appealing the decision?

i have been in touch with our MPP (Thornhill), and after we sent her proof that the vehicle was ordered by the dealer (and on the dealer's lot) before July 11, she said she would forward that to the MTO to review our case. I didn't receive any formal response, other than a phone call back from an assistant to the MPP that the MTO reviewed our application again, and are still denying our application.

The only official mention of an appeal and the deadline is in the EHVIP Guide, where it states: "For denied applications appeals will be accepted no later than March 31, 2019."

So, I recommend just emailing [email protected] and [email protected], which is what I and most people in this forum have done.

It's very disheartening to hear that your MPP wasn't able to help you out. Is the dealership making an effort to help out?

Thanks for this. I'll send an "appeal" email before the deadline.

I've been speaking with the general manager at our dealership. He said they "might" be able to help out and that he will speak to the owner and get back to me.

The dealership also went through their MPP, but I live in the same riding where the dealership is located. The dealership didn't even get an official response from the MPP yet, but I imagine it will be the exact same response I got.

What make/model is your car and who is your dealership? I spoke with Sean at the MTO yesterday, who confirmed that there is no official appeals process/form template etc., and that they are treating any interactions with dealerships/individuals trying to reverse the denial as appeals. So your email to the official email address should have been treated as an appeal.

I just got notified that my dealership didn't include my car on their list. Pretty horrible, will work with MPP on this. Makes no sense that consumers like us have no visibility to this list.

Our MPP (Oakville) let us know we should hear back from the MTO shortly (that was last week). We are still hopeful that the MTO will back down on their stance, although hope is decreasing as each day goes by with no response from anyone. Send your story to [email protected]. She's expressed interest in this debacle. Had the "list" been made public in the first place and we could have determined vehicle eligibility ourselves, many of us would never have taken possession in the first place. The MTO did not wind this program down in a responsible way.

I have sent my story to Michelle at CBC. She has been very responsive, so you others should also reach out.

I am also one of many with my eGolf purchase and received a denial. The crucial point is that if being on a “list” was important why was it not mentioned in the application form ( a form provided by MTO) when we filled it in July August and September ,2018. This clearly shows an intent on part of ministry to mislead us the buyers and the dealership . Why don’t the dealerships sue MTO just like what Tesla did ???

So if you purchased the car after deadline for dealership to send the “list” (which was mid July) you were basically sold a car under misrepresentation by the dealer since you were made to believe that rebate would apply. Your dealership is therefore liable for compensation unless they can make MTO drop the “list” condition since the “list” issue was never mentioned in the MTO supplied application form

Our dealer said they never received the template from the MTO to fill out for eligibile vehicles and their multiple attempts to get information from the MTO went unanswered. We incorrectly assumed that no response from the MTO meant everything was in order. We’ve been touch with VW Canada by phone and via their Facebook page but their response has been that it was the dealer’s responsibility. Everyone is just pointing fingers. It’s beyond frustrating. We’ve contacted the Ombudsman, our MPP, sent numerous emails to the MTO with reasons for why the decision was unfair and should be appealed. We’re still waiting for a reply.
