LOL yes, the frunk was open in that pic. But watch Tesla haters use that pic as proof of panel gaps anyways.

The frunk was smaller than I expected. (The guy running us through the car said the frunk was sized to the specs of an overhead luggage compartment.) But the trunk was a lot bigger than I expected so it evens out. There was an additional compartment/false floor in the trunk that was approximately the same size as the frunk. And the seats folded pretty much perfectly flat. So I'm less concerned about cargo space than I had been previously.

Expect to see that photo posted on Reddit within 24 hours, with a claim that it's a "panel gap problem!"

    Unfortunately, that's probably not a joke. o_O

I've been surprised at all the space in the trunk, and the amount of storage available with the rear seats folded flat. From early comments on the subject, I expected a smallish trunk, and I had no idea that "pass through" actually meant there was no forward wall at all to the trunk, so you get full access to the interior when the rear seats are folded down.

I thought "pass through" meant just a hole in the forward wall of the trunk, to allow long thin objects to be poked thru into the cabin. I have a friend whose car has that setup. The hole is hidden behind a pull-down armrest between the rear seats.

You're still going to be limited by the height of an object you want to stick in from the rear, but for bulky yet relatively flat objects like a bicycle, it looks like there will be plenty of room in the back of the Tesla Model 3 with rear seats folded down.

    Go Tesla!

Thank you for the great pictures! That is my color.

Just got an email last night that Houston Gallaria has one on display starting today! Unfortunately there is no way I can get down there until next week.

The promo email had it rendered in white. I was wondering if that is the demo color or just what got stuck in the email. Was the promo email for Dallas rendered in midnight silver?

Yeah, I'd say it's at least as useful as the Volt. The only downside is that the opening doesn't seem as wide as the Volt. I've been able to squeeze some odly shaped items into the volt by sliding them in at 45 degree angles. Less versatility with the trunk of the model 3. But it is plenty long, and the folding seats means large, long items could fit in there just like in the Volt it would be replacing.

I also liked the plastic hooks in the frunk that could hold grocery bags or take out bags so that things don't roll around. A nice little touch!

Overall the Model 3 could never replace the utility of a Bolt but could replace the Volt easily. In our recent move, 80% of our furniture and large boxes we moved in the Bolt. Maybe 15% we moved in the Volt. (small boxes, clothes, etc) And then we rented a truck for our mattress and 2 couches.

I'm hoping the Model Y is out by the time my Bolt lease is up. By then I'll have lots of plug-in crossovers to cross-shop!

LOL when they said they "expect it soon" I didn't think they meant "tomorrow"! :D

Awesome! Go check it out. And yes I love this color as well. I got the Midnight Grey Metallic Bolt, very similar color. It just looks classy to me. My wife prefers red or black. She has a black Volt. So she'll probably go with black since she'll see the extra cost for paint and be like: Aww hell naw.

I got the same e-mail with the white Model 3. So it doesn't seem to relate to the actual model in the gallery.

Great, maybe it will be the Midnight Silver on Display. It is an hour each way to that store for me, there is no hole in my schedule for that trip until next Thursday. This weekend will probably be packed anyway, I will get more time to spend with it on Thursday most likely.

Saw one on Northwest Hwy in Dallas yesterday, black one. Couldn't get any photos, I was heading west, he was heading east towards Jupiter Road.
