Let me suggest visiting the nearest Tesla Store (DO NOT TAKE A TEST DRIVE.) Talk with the staff and they would probably be your best source. BTW, I got one of their demo cars and saved about $900 . . . it doesn't hurt to ask. The "TEST DRIVE" kills the 1,000 mi, 7 day return policy. IMHO, always a good idea to have options incase you discover 'Uh OH!' <grins> GOOD LUCK! Bob Wilson
What's the window on the test drive?. I did a test drive in the spring the weekend that Tesla attempted to kill the stores. When they did that I put the purchase on hold because it looked like they were trying to commit corporate suicide and also because I needed to take another test drive with my girlfriend so that she could decide if she was comfortable in the car. My current plan was to take another test drive, this time with her, this Saturday but if that screws up the return policy then maybe I'll call it off and have her take a drive with one of her colleagues who has a Model 3.
The folks at the Tesla Store should be able to handle that question. They can check to see if you are listed as having taken a test drive. Where are you located? If within 150-200 miles of Huntsville AL, I'll drive up to give you a proper, private test drive. <GRINS> Bob Wilson
I just called them, you always get the return option even if you do a test drive, the no return thing was something they tried for a couple of weeks and then killed. I'm in MA but thanks for the offer.
Here are a couple of YouTubes I've made. Watch where the lane markers disappear relative to the front of the car: Bob Wilson
Depending on the area you live Tesla has lots of inventory, you could order and drive the same day... Here in Bellevue WA there are hundreds of Model 3's packed into the lot behind the shuttered sears store... Better deals are coming I presume, usually inventory up means prices are coming down...
Ok, I got some pictures and took a quick count, there are approx. 240 cars in the lot right now, there were less than 10 at the end of last month. The inventory is now at Q1 levels, so I would guess Inside EV's will report monthly sales around 10K, but nowhere near last months sales. The first photo you can clearly see the shuttered sears store, and the second to the last photo you can see Tesla's super professional signage haha! Even got my E-Tron mirror in a couple of the photos for you.
Tesla seems to be transitioning to railroad delivery to the North America Markets as can be seen in Richmond CA, as they have restarted using this lot to load trains, This will be cheaper in the long run, but also much slower than the trucks Tesla had been using prior.
My understanding is Seattle has Tesla's inventory thick as fleas in some of their storage lots. Call them and see if you can get one right away and make a deposit. Fly out and enjoy the adventure of a Tesla road-trip. Bob Wilson
Current wait time is 4-7 weeks. Wouldn't you love to own a company where the manufacturing time can't keep up with the orders?
