I ordered my Kona near Toronto in May, and was told I'd likely get it by late summer. A couple months later I was told I would likely get a 2020 model in December. Really hoping the conservatives don't win the elections in Oct and take away the federal incentive, as I was already stripped the very generous $14k provincial incentive by the Ford conservatives last year, thereby cancelling an order for a Chevy Bolt :(.

I think that's what Trudeau was trying to say when he bought the pipeline.. In order to have that environmentally sound future, we need to do this as a transitional thing. I'm not a fan of it, but when you put it in that context, with Norway's example, maybe it's not completely crazy

Dan17, did you get it yet? What colour? I ordered a red Preferred at the end of April in Grimsby, Ontario and was told summer delivery, but then they bumped it to December. That worries me due to the upcoming elections, because I was screwed out of the provincial rebate last year on a Bolt that didn't come in on time.

Eastpole, that's great. What colour is yours? I really wish they had told me before I ordered that they do them in colour batches, by country.. I wouldn't have cared to get it in red THAT MUCH if it meant I was for sure going to get the federal rebate.

  5. Yes I actually received a black preferred one just under 3 weeks after I ordered. This was probably a mix of luck and not caring about the colour (I basically said whatever colour you find except silver).

Sucks to have been bumped like that! Hope it comes sooner. I assumed it would have been a factory order and be just like a 2 month wait.

Who told you they build them like that? I remember our dealership telling us that ordering a popular colour could bump us up on the list depending on cancellations (but he also said that not many orders get canceled. I have told my dealership many times I don’t really care about the colour (except white).. and hoping we would get it sooner.

The sales rep who I was dealing with at the dealership told me that. I do think it makes sense, at least batches by country, because each country has slightly different models. Batch by colour seems kind of far-fetched to be honest.. I have seen a lot of footage of assembly lines, and there are different coloured cars behind each other there all the time.

While batch by colour seems far fetched, when looking for my car I found 3 Ceramic Blue Ultimates at dealers within a 50 km radius of each other, and no other cars in stock in the province. Perhaps they do batch them by colour, country and trim level?

That is why I ask, I find hard to believe as I also see the pictures or videos of the assembly and has different colours. At the same time, how often do they change colour/country/trim etc. I have heard of people getting their car within a month and people like me that still waiting and probably will be longer than 6 months, but always different locations and timing (I haven’t heard of anyone that has ordered their car since May got it within a month).

I heard they batch by trim!

Has anyone got a call in BC about their potential September delivery? I called a few days ago, they said they have nothing yet and to call back in a week to see if my car is on a boat for September arrival.

I would imagine they got lucky with a cancellation or one that was simply in stock nearby. Some dealerships don't even have a demo model, or they have showroom models that you aren't allowed to drive. I also think that the top trims have preferential treatment, to a certain extent, in terms of which get manufactured with priority....much like Tesla when you think about it :(.

  14. This is all very deja-vu-y. There were no discernible patterns last year and none this year. It's a mug's game trying to figure it out. Although it does pass the time! Ah, Hyundai, some things never change.

Batching by trim would be logical.. I would imagine country - trim - colour would make the most sense (though still not sure I believe the rep that colour is even considered in there), depending at what point they are at in assembly... Country first because all countries have different options in their trims of course.

Yeah definitely including country as you'll have different safety features, different laws, and km VS miles.

  17. That thread had 50 pages this one is only up to 13, but... give it time:D

My friend ordered a preferred(red) on April 18, and just now got a call from dealer here on Vancouver island, and the car is here. Yahoo

Just went with her to dealer. It is red with black roof. On quick exam it has a much smaller screen ( I thought it would use the same frame, but it is overall much smaller), no HUD of course, and a blank in middle of dash where we have an extra speaker on the Ultimate. She signed up today to qualify for the full rebates (apparently the car has to be delivered before Sept. 1st, or at least fully paid for, by then to get the full $5000 provincial). Duncan Hyundai offered a good price for her trade-in. We were impressed. Will post a picture after she picks it up on Sunday. Waiting until then to take advantage of new ICBC rates.

  21. The difference is only one inch( 7 inches vs 8 inches), you get much more bezel real estate on the preferred vs ultimate. Now the 2020 ultimate will get appreciably larger 10.4 inch screen.
