@Dusty - I suggest that we continue this discussion in the other related thread (where I am maintaining a 'tally' of bearing failures). Here is a link to your same post in the other thread: https://www.insideevsforum.com/community/index.php?threads/road-noise-or-wheel-bearing-noise.6267/page-3#post-83716 Please see my follow-on questions over there...
Two thoughts... 1) In a thread on extended warranties, I put forth that most mechanical failures occur early on, due to manufacturing errors or defective parts, or much later on, due to wear. Do you think we’re seeing the former case with these wheel bearing failures? 2) Is this repair fairly straightforward? Like the kind of thing an independent shop could handle? I ask because once out of warranty, repairs at a Honda dealer can be a lot higher than at a local independent shop.
Good idea. From related posts it seems that there are quite a few bearing problems, especially right front wheel bearing. Seems to be a very early failure, around 5k miles.
Yes. And yes. Honda got a batch of parts with some defects, and Clarity bearing replacement is as easy and routine as it is on any other car. If this is the worst problem we occasionally see, it is not a concern.
