I saw a new one today in Everett, WA. It still had the paper dealer tags and the temporary registration in the back window. It was close to the dealership so it must have been on its maiden voyage.
I’ve actually seen a decent number of them in the South Bay. There’s actually a second person at my office that has one. Far from common, but I am starting to see them here and there. I see ours more than the kona ev. Sent from my iPad using Inside EVs
We're on the borders of LA County and SB County, yet to see one. My wife thought she saw one at work but found out it was a PHEV. I think in Southern CA, the Tesla hype is still too real. Lots of white Teslas everywhere. I like her car, she's even gotten more compliments about her Niro EV EX than I've gotten on my 2018 Model 3. Some random guy even asked her to race. Only regret is that we didn't get premium for the seat cooling, larger screen, and electronic adjustable car seat.
On my commute back today, just saw two NiroEVs! One black and the other gray. I felt like I found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and caught the leprechaun. Incredibly exciting for me to see two Niro EVs in one day. Didn't have a chance to wave hi.
After 8 months of looking, I still have yet to see a single other Niro EV 'in the wild'. The only other one I've seen was at an electric car event in Los Angeles. I've seen plenty of hybrids and PHEV's, just no EV's.
I saw a graphite today on Central expressway heading south east near Rengstorff. Did not get a picture though. Youngish fellow (30s maybe...hard to be sure at a distance through a couple of layers of glass), balding a bit with glasses and a beard behind the wheel
YEah. I am snapping photos so I can see if it is the same license plate so I don't double count. I ma hesitant to post the pic without blurring it out. Maybe I can just state the last three digits in the post . That should avoid double booking.
I don't think I will ever see another Niro EV in my small rural town, but I was surprised to see a blue/white Kona EV today. Very sharp looking. I really like the Kona EV colors better, but needed the extra space of the Niro.
Same here on both counts. The few extra inches does not look like much on paper, but when I looked at both in person, wow, what a difference. The colors on the regular Niro would be fine. I love the deep cerulean. I do not understand why they did not branch out a bit more. White, grey, dark gray, black, and a blue so dark it looks black. Glad they put in the metallic sheen or I might have bought a Kona anyway. smh
Spotted a Niro EV in the wild today! We passed in an intersection. I thought I knew who it might be and confirmed it when I got home. Living in a non-sale state (400+ miles from the closest dealership that does carry them), I kind of track and know of all the ones in my area. Haven't gotten to meet the owner in person yet but I have messaged him a few times and now know he lives just a few miles away so maybe I will see it on the road more often!
Had a meetup event with our local EV club tonight and got to park my Niro next to a Kona. Ohio is a non-sale state for both of these EVs but obviously that isn't stopping many of us.
Thanks for the share! (like your vanity plate, btw. Spectacular pun! ) I have never been interested in car aesthetics as much as practicality. My main reason for going Niro over Kona was the extra few inches in the cargo space made a startling difference when I saw them in person. For some reason this picture brings the aesthetics up for me. Except for the color options, I think I like the look of the Niro more, but I also see how it is a different look, and some might like the Kona's sporty hatchback look more than the mini cross-over look.
Yeah, seeing a regular (ICE) Kona at an autoshow, we knew we had to opt for the Niro EV for the back seat space (both myself and my husband are taller which would mean folks in the back would have to pretzel up to ride with us if we had went for the Kona). Add to it that we wanted a heat pump (and we weren't finding many Kona with that package) plus some Hyundai dealerships were telling us they wouldn't sell to out of state and it just all added up to us going for the Niro. Thanks for the compliment on the vanity plate. We have DRIVE EV on our Leaf and get comments all the time on both. Great conversation starter to say the least.
Even here in SoCal I’ve yet to see another Niro EV. Occasionally I’ll see what I think is one but it turns out to be the hybrid version. With so few sold I’m not surprised I haven’t seen any. Sent from my iPhone using Inside EVs
Well, there certainly are no Niro EVs in central Virginia, not at least that I've seen. Still standing out, and hoping someone asks me about my car.
You're not alone -- I'm in Stafford County but often go near Richmond to the Goochland Drive-In (where EVs are perfect to run silently if heat or AC is needed)
