Yes I think that is the case, when I talked to the dealer last week wanting to change from base model to touring the dealer had to make a few phone calls before letting me know if one was available and what colour. He gave me only one option so I figure the other ones were already reserved or sold.
Good info. seems some cars are trickling in - mostly tourings. the highest vin recorded so far still 666 - jonker honda
I picked up my Clarity touring - VIN 549. I have to admit that after an hour and a half with the dealer rep explaining some of the features I was a little shell shocked! Just a little more complex than my 2005 Element. That being said my first impressions are really positive. It’s a real pleasure to drive and, given that I hadn’t even seen one before ours was delivered, I am quite delighted with the car.
I received this link from my dealer ahead of picking up my clarity next week. I think it's pretty basic though. http://hondahelp.ca/videos.php?m=2018clarity-PHEV-touring
The dealer has suggested we drive the car for a week and then come in for another session to answer any questions. They’re certainly making the learning process as easy as possible.
For those in Ontario still looking there are tourings available in Quebec. Cowansville has two (nearish to Montreal), Rouyn Nouranda has one, and Montmagny has another. No negotiation possible, take it or leave it.
So it seems like a lot of Touring has arrived in Vancouver. Someone in GTA I believe got his VIN of 60x almost 2 weeks ago and my friend just got her VIN of 63x for a grey Touring. That is suppose to be mine but I prefer red so I let her have it. My dealer claim a red one is in production queue but no VIN nor delivery date, she think it should be around late July early August
From talking to Honda customer service they think that the 2018 production has come to an end. Did your dealer say you'll be getting a 2019?
Suppose to be 2018. But who knows, I don't think Honda knows what's going on themselves. My dealer claim they can access some page that display cars that are allocated to them. As far as I am concern, I don't believe anyone from Honda said until there's real evidence (like VIN)...
Under normal circumstances doesn't the dealer provide a VIN much earlier than on the day it arrives on the lot?
Thats right. i was provided one mid may, however, yet to see the delivery of the car. Base model - white colour GTA
It will get there for you. The VIN is available when it is scheduled for the production line, then you have to wait 4-5 weeks.......it will get there. In my case the dealer told me i would get a VIN when it is cued up but then that changed to when it arrives on the lot. I don't know what is going on. Many things could be. Honda may have had a delay, may have wanted to shut things down but the dealers protested due to Honda mfg not completing commitments. It could be business as usual. Who knows.
