I’m out of town with the family in our van, so I have no way to currently test at the moment, but i do remember that it does sound like it comes from around that area on the passenger side (I always just assumed it was coming from inside the dashboard). I will test when I get home at the end of the week. If you are right I thank you 1,000 times for pin pointing it
I'm glad I'm not the only one being bugged by this. There could of course be more than one source depending on the particular car, but I'm in the same boat of almost always the driver and the sound is coming from somewhere over on the passenger side so it's really hard to pin down. I hear it loudest on very rough roads at about 30mph, but it's also quietly audible (or there's a separate buzz) at slower speeds on roads with the right "grain". I half expect that every one of us actually has a different part slightly rattling, even if they all sound similar.
I think bobcubsfan is on to something. It would explain why I couldn’t locate the rattle no matter where I pushed or bumped the dashboard or headliner. It would also explain why some people are reporting the rattling coming from the driver side and some like myself from the passenger side. These grills (possibly even the tweeter itself) are likely held on by plastic clips, so I plan to take it off when I get home from the family vacation later this week. A tiny bit of anti-rattle/squeak felt tape should do the trick and save my sanity
The harmonics rattle/vibration in mine is caused by the dash vibrating against the A pillar. I’ll stuff a short piece of foam weatherstripping in there and it will stop. I’ve had to do that on 2 other Hondas too.
Not until next week. I’m camping on the Lake Huron shore this week and Clarity-less. It’s the joint between the base of the A-pillar and the dashboard directly behind the windshield.
Sandroad, thanks for the tip. I was also getting a "buzzing" sound riding over rough roads. Couldn't figure out where it originated. Read your comment, immediately felt some "play" with the dashboard corner, and placed a piece of dark foam in the area. Seems to have stopped the noise.
I have the same rattle. On my car where the Dash meets up against the "A" Pillar there is a gap. The two pieces do not line up properly. You can really tell the difference when you compare it to the passenger side which merges perfectly. The rattle stops as soon as I put a slight pressure on that corner. I hope there's a permanent fix for this. I might try the foam as a temp fix.
Back from the dealer. "A" pillars were pulled. Stuffed with foam. These are the pieces that cover the air bags. So far, rattles are gone!
Thanks for the report. At least it’s an easy fix since these are held in place with snap in clips. Fingers crossed none of the clips break when pulling out the a-pillar covers.
I have it too, passenger side dashboard. Although mine is more of a pop than a continuous rattle. Happens once every hour, maybe
