The Android app also has been showing the next Calendar event for the next 24 hours that includes an address. That seems to work properly.

The Android app update today also now shows the EV percentage again.

I turned the Location Permission back on to see if they have fixed the problem where the app keeps GPS active after exiting the app. Seems to have worked properly, at least for my first pass, but it will take a day or two to see if it continues to behave properly now.

Today when I started HondaLink, I got this message: "This app isn't compatible with your device anymore. Contact the developers for more info." The app lists the Developer contact as [email protected]. I sent a message to that email address and, surprise: 550 5.1.1 <[email protected]>... User unknown

Could Honda really have decided, "kill that email address, nobody uses it anymore"?

I'm wondering if you got and installed the app update today. The newest version reportedly seems to be working on Android and Apple mobiles, so maybe installing the update would help.

Latest iOS update shows battery % again. Yay!

But....the odometer reading still doesn't update (consistently). Updated my app and it still shows odometer mileage from three weeks ago.

I can't figure out why HondaLink doesn't show up on my Google Play Store's list of installed apps (my TiVo app doesn't show up on this list, either). So there's no way to delete the old HondaLink app (which is still working behind the panel that says I have to upgrade). The HondaLink support person I spoke with said she can't help me if I can't delete the old app. She suggested I find a kiosk somewhere that understands Android phones. I've been googling and can't find an explanation why some installed apps wouldn't appear on the installed apps list.

Edit: I was able to remove HondaLink using the Settings menu, but when I go to download HondaLink 2.0 from the Google Play Store, it says it's incompatible with my device. Sigh.

Update: HondaLink support just told me I'm the second person today to have this problem with the updated app.

Sorry you are having that problem. I see that Google Play Store says the app requires Android 6.0 & up. Is your phone running on an an older OS?

Yes, I'm still running Lollipop 5.0.1 on my cheap Tracfone (which can't be upgraded as I understand it). I repeatedly asked two different HondaLink support people if the new HondaLink required a newer OS and neither of them knew what you found out. It appears that you can only learn that fact if you have Android 6.0 or above because when I click on the app in the Google Play Store, it goes straight to "Your device isn't compatible with this version," without giving a hint about what's required for compatibility.

That info is kind of hidden in Google Play. In a browser, not on the phone, if you select the HondaLink App in Google Play, and Select "READ MORE", you should be able then to scroll down to "ADDITIONAL INFORMATION", and under "Requires Android", you will see 6.0 & up.

Unfortunately, it sounds like the Tracfone is out of luck on this one. You might want to consider a bit newer phone. Aside from the HondaLink app issue, there have been tons of improvements in functionality and stability over the years since your model came out. There have been many Android phones released with 6.0 and higher already installed, or capable of OS updates, so you could possibly pick one up pretty reasonably.

Due to a clerical error, I have 10,790 minutes on my phone. So it will be with me to the grave. I'll just have to use the fob to start preconditioning unless I am successful at re-installing the old version as per @dnb's link.

I am also on Android 5... and the store says not compatible. If the now-out-of-date HL version won't run without being updated and the current HL version won't run on Lollipop, we are SOL until our phones die. I detest technology "designed for the dump" (forced obsolescence).

I followed the link, downloaded the old version but after installing it, I ended up right where I was this morning, at a roadblock dialog box: "Updates have been made to HondaLink. Your device must be updated to continue using this application." Drat.

Even though the old app pops up the "Since you didn't pay for this, we're turning it off" (or the equivalent) message, I can at least still see the battery percentage in the background and so, can still track my electricity usage by more than just start charging and stop charging times.

Mine got the battery % and gas mileage correctly but the odometer is never right.

Mine on iPhone just now forced me to update the update and now I have the battery percentage again along with the range numbers and color coded bars. So I guess I’m back to being a happy camper since mine has always shown the correct info except for a time or two when Honda’s servers went down.

  21. Maybe you’re aware of this and it won’t work for some reason, but TracFone does allow minutes transfers to new phones .. https://support.tracfone.com/expresshelp/phone-upgrades/1650476

Yes, they are forcing the update starting today. The good news is that battery % is now available again as others have posted.
