I've decided that I don't really like the center console wings (or at least the driver wing). It's an anatomy thing but it seems to hit my knee at exactly the worst spot. I found instructions for removing the wings but was wondering if anyone has tried this and could post pictures of how it looks like afterwards. Hoping that it would not be too much of an eyesore. I really do not see any advantage whatsoever of the wings other than mounting cell phones on them. They interfere with my knee and they also occlude the nice space underneath them.

Something like this could be used to tape over the raw sides of the console. Might have to find a better color, but you just have to cut the right dimensions.

I'm right there with you ozy. Honda could at least made the wings functional by putting storage compartments in them. As they are they are just a bother that hurts my knee too.

It can be done, but you need the special tool. IMG_0032.jpg

  8. Obviously not a solution for everyone but I found a couple small adjustments to the seat and steering column positions alleviated most of this issue for me.

i have the same problem (6'3", 300lbs). The only solution i have come up with is when it starts to bother me i put my right hand between my right knee and the 'wing'. i've pondered getting some sort of adhesive padding that is color matched to the wing so its not as obvious, but i havent really looked into it.

A quickie-fix would be to pick up cheap knee-pads at the local hardware store and just stick one of them between your knee and the center-console wing. I saw them going for 3 bucks at Menards in a newspaper ad (yes, we still get a newspaper).

    I have this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/M-D-10-ft-x-1-2-in-Black-Window-Seal-Rubber-Window-Weatherstrip/1082125

I have a support pole with in my garage that I have to be careful when opening my driver's door, that I don't hit. It has a square wood surround, which means it has squared-off wood corners, too. To protect the car, I have this installed on the edges where the door might hit.

Personally I don't have any issues with the "wing", but if I did, then I would install this along the edge of the wing to protect my knee.

+1 for some weatherstripping or foam tape. I added a small 10cm strip of foam tape and it has done wonders for the comfort of my 6’3” legs.

I cut a child/toddler bump protector and stuck it on the side. Problem solved. :)

The "wings" do stick out unnecessarily. There is a couple of inches of ergonomics lost to somebody's idea of aesthetics.

I must be the only person on this forum that finds the wings a perfect place to rest my knee while driving long distances and to set my phone on. on the other hand my short legs which make the wing so comfortable mean that I can't see the DII.

You’re not the only one. I find the wings to be non-intrusive and I’m a fairly big guy - 6-1, 270.

You are aware that the steering wheel adjusts for height and for depth? Owner's Manual, page 172.

Yep, but if I change the height of the steering wheel, I point the airbag directly at my face/head instead of my chest.

Not serious.... but, you could take a hacksaw and make it so you can see the display! :)

  22. You could trim and attach part of a mouse pad. Even the ones with the bubble wrist support. I'd pick this one. Mouse Pad
