I'm always reminded of the Simpsons episode where Moe extracts a crayon from Homer's ear and suddenly Homer turns into a genius. When that doesn't work out for him, he has Moe tap the crayon back in. Moe knows he's reached the sweet spot when Homer blurts out, "Of course I'll take the extended warranty!"

Wow page 47 .I started this forum on page 3. Allot has happened from the street of waiting for shipment dates to getting VIN numbers to them arriving in willy nilly parts of the country with no rhyme or reason . It has been stressful to say the least .We have received or car and we have been really enjoying it ever since. I have just loved not going to the gas station and when I go to the charging station I find it the most relaxing time ever what with my McDonald's coffee and phone and owners manuals I just love it not to mention the really great conversations while charging .

We have only had a couple of minor complaints since getting our car and the first one was the back door . When we went to pick the car up it wouldn't go into drive or reverse it said that the rear door was open and for this car that is an item that must be dealt with . Do I went into the shoe room and all I said was "there's something wrong with the car" well there were more people and mechanics then I thought were there they came from everywhere. They adjusted things and opened and closed things jumped in and out of the car and then said with confidence that it was fixed and for me to keep an eye on it and if there's a problem to just come right in.

The second problem I had was when one day I was walking up to the car and I noticed that the lock nuts that they put on were getting rusty I thought to myself that that wasn't good and I knew that it was because of all the salt and stuff they put on the roads . So again I took it in and said "You know those nuts you put on?" The salesman said yes "you know that everyone of them are getting rusty". The manager came out and said "Change them and do it now I don't want Wayne to be inconvenienced at all" well again off they went then there were calls to the shop and they took the car into the shop and changed them. I was sitting there thinking it was talking awhile to just change four nuts so I went to ask them and they said that they were washing it as well and vacuuming the inside out so I just went back in and had another coffee and thought that this is really great.

It really distresses me to read stories of shady, incompetent car lots because there are some that are really really good .

Wayne what a nice uplifting post. We all whinged our way through the winter while waiting for our cars, and now it is so nice to read your chipper post and imagine you happy as a tick at the charging station chatting up other owners. You have slowed down and are smelling the roses. lol

I am sitting in the dealer right now because there is a " clunking" sound when I apply the brakes at low speed. They said that they think it's the brake calipers .I have heard of this issue happening so they have ordered some new calipers and they are in the process of fixing this issue.

And by the way they are washing and vacuuming it again .

    I’m always happy to help!
Don’t listen to the haters saying it was a stupid decision :p

I never buy extended warranties, but I did do my research and Hyundai doesn’t have the best track record with its first or second gen year models. It usually takes them a few years to figure their stuff out. For an extra $12 a month, that’s peace of mind knowing that every aspect of my car will be unquestionably covered for the next 8 years. Even if I get bored of the car and sell it in 4 years, it’s completely transferable - I’ll be able to sell my car with a manufacturer warranty more easily than a similarly priced/km car without extended warranty and only a few months of warranty left at that point.

Again, normally I’m against extended warranties but for $1900 and the ability to get my money back in service credits or transfer it to a new car after 8 years - it sold itself. Also, not to mention if you even blow a tire or need a tow more than once or twice it’ll pay for itself.

  19. Blowing a tire or needing a tow should be covered by your insurance, just saying.

I didn't take the warranty, because I feel it's a rip-off. As mentioned by someone, the battery is life time here in the US (whatever that means) and other parts are covered as well.

So yes, don't feel bad if you didn't get it. You're not alone!

Up here in Canada, battery warranty is 8 years, everything else is 5 or 100,000. This brings it up to 8 years, matching the battery warranty.

Also, tires and towing are not part of your insurance here unless you’re willing to pay your $500 or $1000 deductible each time you need a tow or a tire lol

My goal was not to make anyone feel bad about NOT buying it as it can be purchased any time within the first 90 days I believe. My goal was to counter the people saying it’s a rip off and stupid to have bought, making those who did, feel bad about their decision.

  21. I hope my statement doesn't make anybody feel bad they bought it, either. It's of course my personal opinion. And not saying there is no value in it. It can definitely go either way. If nothing happens in the 8 years you might feel bad because you paid for something you didn't use, the other way round, I might pay for something that would have been covered.

Either way, you might end up pulling the short straw ...

Wayne when I backed out today, I got a huge clunk. And same as you clunking sound at low speed. I will call dealership tomorrow. Was it brake calipers as the final diagnosis? I found it very startling. I just called dealership and I am going in just before noon. Wayne if you have any update I would appreciate hearing. Thanks.
