If I knew anything about the internet I'd be inserting the Oprah bees "it's happening!" meme here!

  4. My dealer says mine is on a boat right now not yet in port. He estimates late February arrival but that seems like a very slow boat to me. I'm hoping for sooner.

I would suspect it came in on that ship that Oilberta mentioned yesterday on post #292. Makes sense to me. Fingers crossed.

I might just drop by Crowfoot Hyundai. I'll give a call to Jason Brumer to find out when it will arrive. They have 3 Ionic EV's in stock. I'd like to examine the light blue/grey seats & interior. (as I've ordered same on our Ceramic Blue Ultimate). With the above mentions of cancellations, it's got me reviving my Chevy Bolt interests. One of the Calgary Chev dealers is showing 12 in stock. It's been 5 months and 3 days since I put down my deposit at Hyundai Gallery and not a peep from the dealer or Hyundai. I'm balancing impatience with the obviously better features of the Kona EV

Would love to know what your insurance quote is. I have a perfect record, no tickets ever and no accidents every and I was quoted double what I currently pay for my 14’ Santa Fe. I figured it was a safer car based on all of the safety features it had that I currrntly don’t! Granted that was on a Kona ICE Ultimate that the had in their system.

  9. I originally had a Chevy Bolt ordered (I currently have a Chevy Volt) even though I liked the look of the Kona much better. As soon as I found out they were taking preorders I placed one and continued to sit on my Bolt waiting for it to come in just in case. I ended up cancelling the Bolt (when it was due to arrive lol) beacuse it was lacking features and I just didn't really like the look of the Bolt compared to the Kona. I did half consider reordering a Bolt after this whole Hyundai fiasco but I couldn't get over the fact that the Bolt looks like a Ford Fiesta in high heels (IMO lol!)

Despite the issues with head office, this car will be worth the wait. The extra range and features puts it well above the Bolt for a car of the same price (again, IMO haha).

  10. I will post when I know. They pulled a quote based on the Ultimate ICE and it was only dollars more than for my current Fiat 500 with zero safety features. The agent didn't think the EV would be hugely different. But we'll see what surprises await.

My dealer called me and started the conversation with "I've got some good news and some bad news". The good news was that all of the Konas that they have sold will arrive at the same time, at the end of January. However this may apply to this particular dealer, but it does imply that those who've waited 6 months get the same delivery as those who waited 1 month. I just fail to see how that is good news for anyone who signed up in July.

In my view its becomming clear why they need the sales brochure. They are going to have a hard sell of a very expensive but tiny car if the incentives are not enough to get the price down to earth.

The dealer also told me that no Scrap-it would be available for me so I think I am going to have to cancel. My purchase was contingent on this incentive, so he suggested that he could make up some of the differences with a trade in. That still leaves 6k out of the equation. Looks like I will be going to go get my deposit back today. Unfortunately if what he says is true, my cancellation will not help any of you get your new ride sooner.

One of the only reasons I'm going ahead with mine is because I got the dealer to put aside a scrap it when I put my deposit down. Without the $11k in incentives it just doesn't make sense for such a small car

Also just installed my juice box in anticipation that the car will be here when I get back from California on the 28th

Does anyone have a Hyundai Canada website with the prices quoted for the Kona EV?

  16. I installed one a while ago because I use it for my Chevy Volt right now. It works really well. Which one did you get? I got the plugin version of the Juicebox Pro 32 so I can take it with me to my and her parents as they already have outlets installed.

Went with the 40 since it has room to grow up to 10 kwh charging if I'm a few years decide to move on from the Kona and home charging is likely to accept the higher charge rates even though the Kona currently maxes out at 7.7

  18. I don't think it's listed on Hyundai Canada.ca. It's still a "future vehicle". All mentions of pricing were from the automotive press based on a Hyundai Canada press release. Which is still not posted, even under their "newsroom" tab.

I am asking because I looked at our dealer site and the price is far less than we were quoted.

  20. $51,999 is the MSRP + $1805 shipping + variable dealer fee + $200 paint (if applicable) + bogus charges tacked on by dealer + local taxes + AC and environmental fees + tire tax (maybe) = way more than anyone expected.

    Yup, price seems consistent.
Here’s a photo of my bill of sale. Only thing to add is the lovely 13% Ontario sales tax. Comes to $63,300 after all fees and taxes. No incentive unfortunately!

I can’t cry over spilt milk anymore. I would have loved an incentive but thankfully I got a more-than-fair trade in on my current vehicle. I think $500 a month for a vehicle that doesn’t burn fuel is a fair price. It is smaller than I would have liked, but this is the price to pay for being an early adopter. In 5 years time, we’ll all be beating ourselves up for paying $60k for a Hyundai “back in the day” when you could buy a Merc or Audi electric for similar prices by then.

  22. Make sure they don't forget to subtract your $1000 deposit (unless we just can't see it from that pic).

Thanks for that! I guess we are still in shock over the big price tag.
