Taking Pre-Orders in Canada

  1. Well, here’ my story and it touches on interior colour:
Went in to dealer this pm. He said he hadn’t heard anything. I told him others were getting info. He showed me the screen which showed no evs in Canada. Then he found a different screen that showed all 9 of his pre orders were landed in Canada and VIN #s were available. Mine is now scheduled for delivery to me next week, January 16. We completed all the paperwork including my trade in. Just before leaving he told me that my Ceramic Blue had a black interior.
I had ordered the grey/blue interior. He checked my order and I had ordered grey but Hyundai had asked for a second choice and that was black. I told him I wasn’t interested in black. Luckily one of the 9 preorders was blue with grey and it was also for delivery that day so my dealer is going to give me that car.
    Looking forward to the 16th

My dealer told me that the chalk white only comes with a black interior.

  4. The person who had ordered the blue with grey had cancelled their reservation.

  5. Lucky you!

  6. Nope. He's wrong. For the first few days in July that was true but afterward it was offered.

Ok then black it is lol. Seems like every dealer has an opinion but more times than not - they give out misinformation.....
At this point I'll take any White Ultimate - I'll take a purple interior if I need to.

Mis information is what this company is all about .

Good grief that is worrisome for us. We had no discussion today about interior. Tomorrow we go into get the trade in evaluated and sign the contract. I will have them do a search to make sure our interior is grey. Fingers crossed that ours isn't screwed up. I don't want black.

I know it is a bit worrisome... I do recall maybe seeing an interior colour option online when I first reserved, however I cannot find any confirmation email and when I initially went in to put the $1000 deposit, colour (both exterior and interior) was not even a topic. hmmm...

When we went in to put down our deposit, our salesman had a form and he checked off Ceramic Blue and light grey interior. We had asked for a white roof, and he said that wasn't possible due to all first orders were Ultimates with sunroofs. I am hoping that copy is still kicking around. Unfortunately we didn't ask for a copy.

Here is a video of Ceramic Blue with a dark interior. It isn't so bad I guess. I will search for a video with the light grey to compare them. Not sure if I will walk if our interior is black. Here is one more video of the dark interior on Nigel's personal Kona in the UK. Of note he does not have a sunroof. So if we wind up with dark interior it will be so much lighter in the car with a sunroof. Here is the light interior.
That first video may be one of the first prototypes so hard to know if it will look the same i.e. black with white pillars and roof. That isn't so bad. If they screw up our order, I will make a fuss. Just on principal as there has been such misinformation all along the way.

Thanks for those videos CJC - really helps to play them side by side. I would honestly he happy with either interior - interesting how the black seats don't look too dark - not sure if it's the lighting but they are little on the grey side. Not bad.

I tend to think the same as you. I added another video above of the dark interior.

Your dealer is wrong. Ultimates show Pebble Blue w/Grey Leather interior as available with Chalk White, Ceramic Blue, and Galactic Grey exteriors

This is really weird - The Youtube videos of the kona's at dealers and car shows have light interiors. But most videos I've seen of people actually driving them are black interior. IMO the black interior looks MUCH sleeker. I finalized my order on Monday but because of the limited numbers coming to Ontario, had to specify a 1,2,3 preference order for colours. All of which I would want a black interior for. I have had no feedback as of yet - they're still hunting one down for me!

  19. I'm sort of wondering if "late" orders (after the initial July push) might have had a slightly different procedure and allocation?

When he was speaking he was talking about the first few shipments . So as time goes on he may be wrong but let's just see what turns up at the very beginning . The lack of information makes the whole process gray and clouded.

Went to see my dealer today to discuss my Kona reservation. The process was fairly loose, we discussed trade ins and the BC Scrap-it program. It sounds like this program is tricky, even though I have an eligible vehicle it requires the dealer to have an allocation and mine did not. I also finally got a confirmed price which was in line with the numbers I had seen here. I did find out that my Kona is at the port on Annicis Island but I believe none of the cars have been released yet. Apparently only a few cars get released each day and it could be 2-3 weeks before mine arrives at the dealer. It depends on how far back it is in the compound.

We went into to do our wheeling and dealing today. It seems our car is still on a ship but we should have it within 2 weeks. No, we don't have a VIN yet. All the Kona Electrics that are in Canada right now are destined to go by rail to other Provinces, and likely are on route now. We got offered $7000 less for our trade in assessment than in July when we put our deposit down. We had a fear that we would get nailed with the depreciation over the last 6 months, but it was still disheartening to the nth degree. We got them to move up a thousand dollars. But still it was a big blow. We are still talking about the all weather tires so I will update you later. They gave us a huge sales pitch for their 3.9% interest financing which totally irritated my husband as it was under the guise of completing our order. After we get the car, we will speak with the manager about that tactic. We were assured that our Ceramic Blue with light grey upholstery was on the ship.

What a bunch of misinformed boobs! I specifically asked if our car which we ordered in July was by any chance on the lot at Anancis Island. "NO" we were told as all those cars have been or are being shipped to Provinces other than BC. We were told ours is still on a ship. I am getting more and more peeved with this whole ordeal.
