LOL yeah I forget how many tenths of a gallon more in a UK gallon! you would think the uptake of electric vehicles would be much higher than it is here with the price of the stuff, diesel at our local petrol station is dearer at £1.37 ltr =£6.23 / $7.94 UK gallon.
I think the thing that actually gets people to reconsider gas is a sudden jump in price. If it moves up slowly, it's like the old tale about the frog boiling in water.
Case in point. Though, in that particular case, things are a bit more complicated than just a simple tax. The French have been under financial duress for some time. Personally, I think Macron is just a convenient target and is trying to make the moves needed to improve the economy there. I'm not super knowledgeable about the entirety of the situation there, though. Need to do a good amount of reading.
