Hit someone as they made a left in front of me. Front airbags and knee airbags deployed. Looks like a writeoff both me and the other person are ok. Once everything is settled I'll post a shot of what a front end collision looks like in a Clarity. It performed well.

Sorry to hear about your car. Glad you and the other driver were OK. So, if it is totaled, are you getting another Clarity or something else?

That's too bad. Glad no-one was hurt!

EDIT: Did the crash mitigation braking system function? Did it help?

I had started braking before but it beeped like crazy as it was about to occur. I saw the car beginning to move before it registered with the brake mitigation. Not sure if it detected it at the same time it occurred so quickly. Honda link called emergency. Love the Clarity and will get a new one.

Officer told me witnesses saw it and I went through as the light was yellow so I was not charged.

Sorry to hear but you and the other driver or passenger being okay is the most important. Happy to hear you feel the Clarity is worth getting a new one once the dust settles. The million dollar question is will you get the same spec and color Clarity?

I've got full replacement cost of a vehicle 5 years or newer so it will be fully covered and the deductible is covered as well. Ive been told 2018s are sold out so I would have to wait for a 2019. The only real alternative would be a BEV such as the long range leaf but that is a bit smaller. I will probably end up with another white Touring we need to see how this plays out. I've also not yet received my Ontario 13k rebate and I hope I am not disqualified for that due to the accident. Attached is a photo of the accident.

Whew! I'm happy you're ok physically, but I suspect it will take a bit to recover from the stress of a collision. I'm also happy the car performed well at protecting you. The photo looks like the crush-zone did just what it's supposed to do and absorbed the hit.

Ahhh I am so sorry to hear about this. I'm glad you're OK but I have been in this situation so I know how much it sucks.

I guess the crumple zone works well in these cars both front doors open and closed well. I think it fixed the passenger door not closing easily problem :). Damn neck whiplash pain is taking effect now hope it doesn't last too long.

Definitely get that documented and I'd lawyer up if I were you because the neck thing could persist. My wife was rear ended in a minor fender bender and many years later its effects still popped up.

I am so sorry about your accident and am also glad no one was hurt. It's still a stressful ordeal.

I ran into a large tree limb hanging over the road with my Clarity this week. It was night when this wall of leaves appeared out of nowhere and the collision warning light came on, but the car didn't break. The limb hit the front bumper, dented the corner of the hood and raked over the hood and top of the car leaving scapes and scratches. It's going to need body work and paint and I have an appointment Monday for the appraisal. Am not sure if the battery will affect how they are able to do the work. Times like this I wish I had a regular car.

The battery plays a larger role if the repair involves structural welding as the high voltage system should be disabled. As far as the minor cosmetic damage, the main thing to look our for is a shop not set up for an aluminum repair. They could potentially cause issues if they contaminate the aluminium using tools intended for steel repair.

OP: glad everyone is okay. Curious what the insurance buy back is considering the value of the seemingly undamaged drivetrain. Phev go kart project?

Like the others said, def make sure to note down the neck pain / wiplash and get it looked at. Might need chiropractic or other help.

    Glad you are both ok!

Sorry for your loss... hope the insurance can get you back in a brand new Clarity real soon.

Main thing though, is that you walked away from the crash.
