Driven ~225 miles so far, 99.99% on EV mode (have tried the HV for maybe 2 miles on highway), and it looks like my MPG estimate is now stuck at 199.9? Hopefully true for every one with similar driving habit?
If you drive almost always in EV mode, it will stay at 199.9, which is the max mpg that the car will display. If you start driving in HV mode, that number will eventually come down.
Fun fact: if you switch your display to metric (km/hr), it will display your fuel economy in liters per 100 km, which is not limited to the same "cap" as the MPG reading. I once got my usage all the way down to 0.0 L/100km!
Yes I'm pleased to report that there are display screens in the Clarity that are nearly worthless to display. The MPG reading is almost always 199.9 so no reason to display it. Given the car is always in EV mode around town, and we charge with solar, it's nearly free to drive. With my son's school in session we drive 50 miles per day just to drop him off and pick him up. Throw in a diversion or third trip and we're hitting 60 or more miles per day with a 100% charge mid-day all at home. Today I started out with less than a full charge (second trip of the day) showing 40 miles of range EV. I drove about 30 miles but only 20 off the EV range estimate. It pays to minimize acceleration and drive a steady speed. While our trips almost always involve some freeway driving I kept to 60 mph which is way better for battery consumption than is 70 mph. This car is much more efficient than it should be given it's size and weight. You have to give Honda credit.
Wait until you fill up for the first time... Your HV range will probably go to 1000 if they have not applied the HV range fix. If you then select the display with EV, HV and Total, you will see upwards of 1040+ however, the small range display will only say 999.
During the summer, the EV range was as high as 54 when fully charged and it was pretty accurate. Now that the weather is getting colder and heater is on, the EV range after a full charge is down to 42, and a little generous. Then again, my HV range has been stuck at 1000 for a while now even though I've done a good 20-30 miles in HV mode after running down the battery.
