The original body shape was pretty much just a copy of the "optimal" shape proposed by Alberto Morelli of Torino Technical University in 1976. The current body shape is the result of taking Morelli's concepts and refining them using Computational Fluid Dynamics software to optimize the vehicle's aerodyamics.
