Has anyone gone through an automated car wash with their Clarity? What's this "car wash mode" I was reading about in the owners manual? Can't I just put the car in neutral after guiding it onto the tracks?

It is for car washes where the driver is not in the car. Neutral is fine if you stay in the car.

You can if you stay in the car. The car wash mode is for when you want to exit the car before it gets pulled through the car wash.

Ah, that makes sense. I didn't read the manual carefully enough I guess. Thanks.

I did one last month. Just put it in neutral and rode through. No issues!

I don't get the difference between Neutral and Car Wash Neutral? I believe my wife's 2017 Honda Pilot Touring has the same system, but I think the guys at the car wash just put it in regular neutral when they drive it into the car wash.

If you open the door to exit, it automatically goes from Neutral to Park. You have to hold N in for a few seconds for it to stay in Neutral.
The car wash guys probably already know to do this.

Thanks for this discussion; I hadn't noticed this from the manual:

This puts the vehicle in car wash mode which must be used when your vehicle is pulled through a conveyor type automatic car wash where you or an attendant do not remain in the vehicle.

Interesting. I guess the car wash guys must know this by now. I remember the first time she took the car there one of the attendants had to ride in the car through the car wash.

But this last time they must have figured it out before running it through the car wash.

So, I took the car to the car wash yesterday (and of course it rained, followed by a bird attack this morning).

So I put the car on car wash mode... No problem, except at the end, you need to apply the brakes to go to drive. Odd...
