I thought about asking when everyone thought about possible future options but then I settled on this simple poll of when we will have more options to choose besides just paint and wheel size. Yes I know there are autopilot and FSD options but I'm more interested in physical hardware options like the option not to buy the PUP, interior colors other than black, dual motors, etc. I would have mentioned standard battery but that sounds like it won't come until next year. I wonder if that won't be delayed some by Tesla employees wanting a base model since after all they are first on the priority list and I can imagine there might be quite a few Tesla employees waiting for the standard battery.

I think All Wheel Drive should launch late summer or early fall. Hopefully this summer since I think it will be a big seller in the northeast and Canada.

But it's gonna be a while before I'm able to get the standard battery that I'm waiting for. Q1 of next year for the launch... but it might be much later for me actually getting it since we reserved so late in the game. (early 2017)

I chose "Q3 2018" on the poll, but that was for the AWD option. Likely the "Standard Range" version, the smaller battery pack, won't appear until very late 2018 or early 2019. At least, that's what the better informed Tesla fans are saying.

FWIW Non-owner in northern Ohio, I reserved day 1 online, approx 116k in line. I reserved just as they were rolling out on stage. My delivery estimate for standard battery is "early 2019" so unless you are an existing owner or employee, early 2019 may be wishful thinking with a 2017 reservation for standard battery. :(

I am wondering when we'll get different interior options. I'm not a fan of a black interior.

I had wanted LR and AWD as my only two options. Since the LR option ended up being about 2X what I was expecting, it then became do I want LR or AWD. I decided range was more important to me as I intend to keep my M3 long term and even if the LR battery degrades to 200ish miles it will still satisfy my needs. I really don't want the PUP. Mostly because I prefer sheet metal over my head. If it looks like I can't get Base + LR before full tax credit expires then I may take first production. We'll just have to see what the situation is when I get the invite to order.

Elon just tweeted the other day that many options will come after they reach 5,000 a week in production. Extimated at July 2018.

I just got my invite on Friday, but I am holding off for a couple reasons.

First, and most important, we will have a new baby sometime in the next 7 days. Not really the time I was hoping to coordinate the purchase. I still need to get charger setup in the garage, will need to sell my car etc. I would have ordered minutes from invite in Dec/Jan, but now it would be easier to wait.

Second, my wife would really prefer a light color interior. I have seen a couple Model 3s on the road, but haven’t seen the interior in person yet. Although this will be my car, I know she will be taking it often. So she still wants to approve the color options. From the latest tidbits, it sounds like full details on the white interior and AWD could come in July.

Full tax credit will still be around at least until September, so a July order would be safe.

I got my invite on the 13th too. I would have preferred a grey or beige interior. The pictures I've seen of the white are even worse than the black interior. It's basically the black interior but lets put white everywhere where dirt would be most likely to collect!?!? SMDH. I pulled the trigger last night on the first production configuration since I assume any config I would prefer more wont be available until the tax credit is phasing out or gone. Hopefully I don't end up having buyers remorse for pulling the trigger too soon.
